The PO is Scared - 25th Aug

So I go to our see our PO yesterday after coming back from holiday. First of all I see the Orthoptist and she had a look at William and wrote some notes and then I wait to see Dr Maslin. When I go into see him he looks at William and sees that William is alternating once again which eye he uses. He says this scares him - so I'm not sure what I'm suppose to think - should I be scared as well? He'd rather William only use his good left eye when he isn't patched. He said that it will make it a lot easier for him in the long run as some kids have eyes wandering all over the place which makes it very difficult for them to have good vision. He called in the Orthoptist to affirm that she is confident that William was looking with his left eye at her. She said yes she is confident he was using his good eye but he seems to use his small eye for close up vision. Maybe because the contact strength makes him focus at very close up distance, that's what they think maybe happening. Anyway they have also decided against doing eye alignment surgery at before 1 year of age as they want to get a better visual acuity of his small eye. Dr Maslin has told me to forget about binocular vision (he really doesn't see how any aphakic kids can obtain binocular vision at all) so that's a bit disappointing but I sort of knew it in the back of my mind anyway. Dr Maslin also said to stop patching again for a couple of days. He wants us back in 4 weeks time to keep an eye on everything. Also we are booked in for a EUA (Examination under Anaesthetic) in a few weeks time. I'm really nervous this time - I know he came through his operation last time but now he's older it's going to be harder to keep him off food. Also since he was only 7 weeks old last time he was my baby and I loved him very much but now I've spend 5.5 months with him my love has grown so much that I think its going to be so hard for the nurses to take him away. And I wonder what he'll be like afterwards! No point dwelling on it now tho I guess!
